SkiBig3 in Banff National Park can seem, well, big. With three stunning ski resorts – Banff Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt. Norquay – two mountain towns, and one national park to discover, there’s a lot of ground to cover during a winter ski vacation here. Here at SkiBig3, we help you make the very most of it by cutting down on the logistics and stress, allowing you ample time to make memories to last a life time.
From Calgary airport to the streets of Banff, and onto the SkiBig3 slopes, here are four easy arrival tips to get you skiing and riding the slopes in no time.
Step 1: Travel to Banff
The closest airport to Banff and Lake Louise is Calgary International Airport (YYC) in Calgary, Alberta. The journey from Calgary to Banff is a cruisey 90-minute journey along the Trans-Canada highway, a 4-lane double highway with stunning views as you cross the foothills into the mountains. While there are several options for transportation, we recommend booking an airport shuttle with one of our SkiBig3 Vacation Specialists.
Want more flexibility with mobility? Consider hiring a rental car for the duration of your vacation. For those travelling from countries without snow, keep Canadian winter driving conditions in mind.
Step 2: Pick up your SkiBig3 Lift Tickets
If you’ve booked your lift tickets 72 hours or more before arrival, they’ll be conveniently awaiting pick up at the front desk of your hotel. No waiting in line the morning of your ski day – these tickets allow you to go direct to lift at all three ski resorts.
When you purchase SkiBig3 Lift Tickets online, you will be prompted to let us know where you are staying – this will allow us to deliver your tickets directly to your hotel. If your hotel is not listed you will have the opportunity to select the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub in Banff, or Gear Up Sports in Canmore as your pick-up location.

If you are purchasing tickets within 72 hours of arrival, your tickets will be available for pick up at any on-mountain Guest Service Desk or the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub conveniently located at 114 Banff Avenue in downtown Banff.
Step 3: Get your rental gear
The SkiBig3 Adventure Hub is your one-stop-shop for all your winter vacation needs. From lift tickets, gear rentals, and SkiBig3 resort-branded merchandise, we have it all. If you’ve forgotten any small essentials that make a big difference – like gloves, goggles, even heated socks – rest assured you can pick them up at the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub.
Renting gear is a great way to save on baggage fees and transportation hassle, and the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub has a fantastic rental fleet to suit every style and skill level for skiers and snowboarders of all ages.
Plus, if you get fitted before 8 pm, the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub specialists will even deliver your gear to your hotel the very same night, giving you more time to explore the town of Banff.
Step 4: Shuttle to the resorts
There are shuttle stops located all around Banff and Lake Louise. Most of them are located within an easy walk of your hotel. They run frequently throughout the day and are free for all SkiBig3 Lift Ticket and season pass holders.
