Sunshine Village unveils plan for new Goat’s Eye Day Lodge

Big plans are in the works as Sunshine Village hopes next summer to build a long anticipated day lodge at Goat’s Eye.

With the goal to improve an already spectacular visitor experience with a state-of-the-art facility, the proposed Goat’s Eye Day Lodge will provide much needed space for areas such as dining, child care and ski school in the Goat’s Eye area. The day lodge would replace temporary ATCO trailers, which the resort has used since a temporary tent structure burned down in 2007.

The proposed project, which has undergone a detailed environmental impact assessment, has been designed utilizing green building practices.

A development permit application for the day lodge is to be reviewed by the Parks Canada’s Advisory Development Board on Thursday, Sept. 26th at the Parks Administrative building in Banff, AB at 1:30 p.m. and Sunshine invites the public to join the resort as they provide further details of the new structure.

Sunshine also welcomes positive comments to Parks at opinion@pc.gc.ca to let them know how important this project is to enhancing the visitor experience at the world class ski and snowboard resort.
Sunshine Village will also hold an open house on Tuesday, September 24th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Banff Park Lodge where further details of the day lodge will be on display. If all approvals are granted by Parks Canada, Sunshine hopes to begin construction next summer to have the facility open to guests for the 2014-15 season.

Goat’s Eye Mountain was developed in the mid-1990s and consists of a lift, ski terrain and temporary day lodge structures at the base of the mountain.
